Breakfast at Disneyland

breakfast at Disneyland

Skip the hotel buffet. Enjoy breakfast at Disneyland during your next visit. Disneyland has over 30 eateries, and most don’t start serving until 11 am for lunch. But there are a few restaurants that do serve breakfast to guests.

We were starving by the time we got through the Disneyland gates, so much that we stopped at the first restaurant we came across– Carnation Cafe. And we were so glad we did. Carnation Cafe is right on Disneyland’s Main Street. It’s a fun, kind-of-ol’ timey atmosphere, and isn’t too crowded.

I admit, I wasn’t expecting too much. After all Disneyland specializes in amusement, not food. But I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered up the Spinach & Tomato Egg White Fritatta drizzled with a sour cream sauce, chicken sausage, potatoes and fruit. It was absolutely delicious. The fritatta wasn’t too overcooked (as fritatta’s tend to be) and was shaped like Mickey Mouse. The fruit was sweet, and the sausage was excellent.

My second disappointment was that we didn’t get to experience character dining. I didn’t any opportunities to eat breakfast with Mickey or any other Disney characters during my visit.

My son enjoyed his favorite– pancakes and bacon. My only complaint– the pancake wasn’t shaped like Mickey. Why wouldn’t it be? Everything on the children’s menu should be shaped like Mickey.

If you’re not into fritattas or pancakes, the Carnation Cafe serves up a lot of other options as well:

If you aren’t impressed with the Carnation Cafe’s menu offerings, you can also eat breakfast in any of these Disneyland restaurants:
The Market House on Main Street for artistic breakfast sandwiches and wraps. Check out their menu.
The Plaza Inn on Main Street for a made-to-order omelet. Check out their menu.
The River Belle in Frontierland which serves up Cinnamon Roll French Toast. Check out their menu.
I highly recommend that you visit one of the Main Street eateries for breakfast. By the time you make it past all of the excitement to the River Belle in Frontierland, it will be lunch.
