You folks really seemed to appreciate my last Friday night fun with kids post, so I decided to put together some additional Friday family fun ideas. This time I decided to share cheap or free family Friday-night fun.
Roast Some Marshmallows and Camp-Out
We love to roast some marshmallows and hot dogs over our fire pit. We also set up one of the tent to keep the kids entertained, while the adults partake in a few glasses of wine.
Hit Up the Rink
In summer, rollerskating on Friday night with the family is a cheap way for everyone to be entertained. During winter, we like to hit up the ice-skating rink.
Family Slumber Party
Kids aren’t the only ones that can have slumber parties. Got a friend who lives out of town, invite her and her kid over for a slumber party. Organize some family fun activities such as pizza and cookie making. After dinner turn on a movie for the kids, while you and your adult friend catch up over a a glass of wine.
Nighttime Paddle Boat Tour
Paddle boating at night is a blast. You notice all sorts of wildlife in and out of the water at night. This activity is best for kids 10+ who are good swimmers.
Why not visit a local state park for the night?! Reserving a spot at a state or national park is usually no more than $20. Add in some s’mores and dogs, and you have a cheap, Friday night. When you wake up Saturday morning, you can either leave or enjoy a hike through the park.
Paint up the Night
Grab a large roll of white paper and unroll it right on your front porch or back porch. Place a tarp or plastic bags underneath the paper to keep your porch paint-free. Then unleash the glow-in-the-dark paints and allow the kiddies to get straight Picasso in the dark.
