My son will only eat bananas! When it comes to fruit, he has limited himself to that one, very sweet selection. No watermelon, no pineapple, no peaches, no grapes, and certainly no apples. I thought a visit to an apple orchard might build an appreciation for other types of fruit. So I accompanied him and a group of his friends to Gidzich Family Farm – an apple orchard in Watsonville.
Gidzich is run by the Gidzich family, and they give tours to kids all over the South Bay. I never knew picking apples could be so much fun!
Gidzich isn’t just apple-pickin’, there is a great hay-tunnel, play-structure for the kids to jump up and down on, and the proprietor offers a great lecture on Johnny Appleseed and on making apple cider.
After the fun was done, I had to grab one of the fruit pies and a bottle of fresh apple cider prepared by the farm. They were both great!
