Former Cal track star Alysia Montano earned a standing ovation from an excited crowd when she completed 800 meters in the U.S. Track and Field Championships in Sacramento on Thursday. And she did it while 34 weeks pregnant.
Montano finished the race in 2 minutes, 32.13 seconds which was only 35 seconds slower than her personal best.
According to Montano, her doctors not only gave her the OK to run but encouraged her. “I’ve been running throughout my pregnancy and I felt really, really good during the whole process.”
